Matthew 24:36-51
No One Knows That Day and Hour
"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

This being Passion Week I thought it would be appropriate to remind you of what we live for. As Christians we yearn for the day that Christ will come back and establish his kingdom here on earth. Our Lord sought to remind us before his crucifixion that he was coming back. Yes he would arise, but even better he was coming back eventually to reign forever.
We must live as if the return of Christ could be at any moment. We have much work to do....
Christ's return will be swift and sudden, and there will be no time for second chances. Will he catch you sleeping?
We must daily make choices for eternity. Do not allow yourself to keep thinking you will wait until tomorrow to tell that person about Jesus Christ. You are not promised tomorrow...
Jesus did not tell us about his second coming to spark best selling novels and predictions about the date, but rather he warned us to be prepared. Today this very moment...are you ready?
As Matt 24:26 states, the only safe eternal choice is to constantly live for Jesus.
Are you constantly living for Jesus?
Fascinating Parallel:
I find it so astonishing when, in the Gospel of Matthew, we find Jesus discussing the second coming. He is discussing this days before he was to be betrayed and executed. He is also speaking days after he rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday on a colt. Christ had a glorious entry into Jerusalem, but I know of an entry that will top that a million times over. Where will you be, and what will you be doing, when Jesus triumphantly busts open the clouds?
Jesus says in Revelation 22:20
"Surely I am coming soon."
May are response to him be as John's was
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
On this day as you think about his eminent return may the cry of your heart be:
Praise be to God!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Come Lord Jesus quickly indeed....
Ready or not here he comes....Godspeed!
