Two Entries Today: The Last Supper and June 12, 1992

Leonardo Davinci's "The Last Supper"

Matthew 26:26-29

The Lord's Supper Instituted

While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

Never forget the blood that was shed for you...Never...Never forget the savior who was pierced for your transgressions...Never...

As the Lord's Supper was instituted Christ knew what was coming. He wanted us to never forget how much he loves us. Every time we take the Lord's Supper we our hearts should be heavy. It should never become routine or be taken lightly. It is of the utmost importance that we never take our eyes of Jesus and what He did for us.

The Lord's Supper should also remind us of His love. You see the Bible says, "Which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins." This is important because it underscores that the blood was poured out for many, not all. Jesus has chosen to reveal Himself to me. I realize that I am a child of grace, and I am eternally reminded of this every time I take the Lord's Supper. It was Jesus' last meal on Earth, but I long for the day when my Savior and I dine again in paradise.

The table is wide and long. There is much room to sit with the Savior on that day.

So...Go increase our dining partners to the world without end...Godspeed!
