Romans 3:13-14
"Their throats are gaping graves,
their tongues slick as mudslides."
"Every word they speak is tinged with poison."
"They open their mouths and pollute the air."
I guess I could not let the day pass without commenting on the Don Imus controversy. If you have not been watching the news, Don Imus is a radio talk show host who called the Rutgers women's basketball team "A bunch of nappy headed hoes." This has brought on a probably deserved outcry from the black community on this subject. Above is a picture of Mr. Imus sitting in the studio while on the Rev. Al Sharpton's radio show.
I found their discourse to be entertaining, but also sad. It is amazing to me that men think that they can just say whatever they want to and it have no consequences. Words are important, and at times hurtful.
We think just kidding will suffice every time you say something inappropriate. If you don’t agree then try commenting, next time a girl asks you if she looks pretty, say no you look ugly and then say your just kidding. Do you think her feelings will be affected any less? Absolutely not....
I am just as bad as anyone else, but we must watch are tongues. Do we think we will say words like shit and damn when we meet our savior face to face? Will our first comment to Him be, "Damn you look good in that robe”? Absolutely not...This sounds absurd doesn't it. That is how absurd you look, by claiming to be a Christian and speaking like your lost and going to hell. We must stop cursing. It is not uplifting to the kingdom.
Some might say, "Bubba its just words, come on"...To which I will respond, "No it is a reflection on the kingdom of the almighty God."
Gossipers...You are next. Are your words biting like the poison of asps? You might say "No," but I have heard the way you talk about each other. I am guilty too. We must speak of each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are all each other have. We must lean on each other as the body of Christ...Quite talking about each other you slithering asps...
I am going to also encourage you to forgive others. I heard the Rev. Al Sharpton say the most absurd thing today. When asked if he would forgive Don Imus, he said "Never, No way, No how." This is not the spirit of Christ, and comments like these are not becoming of a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I think both of these men are pretty morally ignorant, Don Imus for making these comments and the Rev. Al Sharpton for choosing making money off of it.
Watch your tongues! Don't become like these men...It is men like these that Paul was writing to...Godspeed!
